Protection of data by individuals

Every employee, self-employed person, volunteer or administrator agrees to respect the confidential data, of donors, employees, directors, volunteers and beneficiaries of the Foundation.

In addition, each individual undertakes, upon their entry into service, to keep all information specific to the activities of the Foundation confidential, and not to disclose, or make any personal use of the content of this information or for the benefit of others.

Protection of data by the Foundation

The Foundation undertakes not to sell its donor lists. It will exchange certain information with other non-profit organizations only if the donor has previously given his or her consent in the online donation form. The only data collected will be the donor’s name and address.
 
The Foundation also undertakes to destroy any paper document containing personal information, especially that relating to credit cards, once the administrative procedure is completed.

Donor Charter of Rights

Out of respect for our donors and in order to ensure their unqualified confidence in the Organization and its calls for donations, and in order to assure them all the recognition to which they are entitled as benefactors, the Quebec Cancer Foundation hereby declares that any person, organization or undertaking that makes a donation has the following rights: 
  1. To be informed of the Foundation's mission, of how it intends to use the donations made to it, and its ability to use them effectively for the purposes for which they were solicited. 
  2. To be informed of the identity of the members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and the Executive Board and expect that they exercise judgment and prudence in the performance of their responsibilities. 
  3. To have access to the Foundation’s most recent financial statements. 
  4. To be assured that their donations are used for the purpose for which they were given. 
  5. To receive the acknowledgment and gratitude that is due to them in accordance with the Foundation’s current recognition plan. 
  6. To be assured that all information related to their donations as well as all information concerning them will be treated with respect and confidentiality to the extent provided by law. 
  7. To expect a high level of professionalism from every representative of the Quebec Cancer Foundation. 
  8. To be informed whether those who solicit donations are volunteers, employees of the organization or hired fundraisers. 
  9. To have the opportunity of having their names and addresses deleted from the Foundation’s lists. 
  10. To feel free to ask any questions that they deem relevant when making a donation and to receive prompt, truthful answers. 
This charter was developed by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel (AAFRC), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Association of Philanthropy Professionals (APP). It has since been adopted by several organizations in Quebec and Canada.
