Relive the experiences described in the inspiring stories told by people close to the foundation.

“If it had not been for the Foundation, I don’t know how Magalie could have received her treatment.”

In November 2018, my partner Magalie was diagnosed with brain cancer. After an operation to remove the tumor, she had to undergo treatment in Montreal, since the hospital in our home town of Rouyn-Noranda has no radiotherapy unit.

That was when our social worker told us about the Quebec Cancer Foundation. We were lodged at the Norman Fortier Lodge for 6 weeks, from December 13 to January 25. It was thanks to the Foundation that Magalie was able to receive her treatments. It’s an 8-hour drive from where we live to Montreal; I don’t know where else we could have stayed for almost two months at so little cost.

Today, life is slowly returning to normal. Magalie is getting stronger and starting to resume her favorite activities. In my role as caregiver and spouse, I continue to be her confidante and support. And of course, I continue to love her. This ordeal has definitely strengthened our relationship. When Magalie is 100% recovered, we plan on celebrating by getting married!
