A firefighter by trade, the importance of giving back and supporting one’s community is something I’m intimately familiar with.
A lung cancer diagnosis prompted me to become involved with the Quebec Cancer Foundation. A firefighter by trade, the importance of giving back and supporting one’s community is something I’m intimately familiar with, so it was instinctive for me to support the Foundation and help it provide much-needed assistance to other people battling cancer and their loved ones.
Cancer is a life-changing event, and those diagnosed with the disease generally require significant support not only from family and friends, but from professionals. And, because people with cancer must often stop working, financial support is usually more than welcome. The Quebec Cancer Foundation covers all of these bases, with a compassionate and professional team that offers free or affordable services created specifically to help improve the well-being of those undergoing cancer treatments.
Since 2010, I’ve been organizing a spaghetti dinner and evening (including dancing!) to raise funds for the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
Over the past decade, the event has allowed me to raise a total of $50,000 for the Quebec Cancer Foundation.Held in November of each year in a community centre in Montréal-Est, the event is eagerly anticipated by the nearly 300 people who partake in the festivities in support of cancer patients.
I’m currently battling another cancer, but plan on being back at the helm for the 2022 event!
