Montreal, May 1, 2018 - Today marks the province-wide launch of the 5th edition of a campaign whose goal is the well-being of Quebecers affected by cancer: the Quebec Cancer Foundation’s Grand défoulement.

The Grand défoulement is an expression of the humanity, commitment, solidarity, positivism, services, support and excellence that typify the Quebec Cancer Foundation. There are three major activities in the campaign: La marche du Grand défoulement, Grand défoulement dans les écoles, Grand défoulement à ma façon.

"Everyone, both young and old, can participate by choosing the way of letting off steam that suits them best. Every Quebecer is invited to take part, whether to honour those who have passed, to salute the presence of those who have been cured, or to acknowledge the courage and determination of those still facing the disease. Because of your support, the foundation is there, every day, just like a second family for everyone who needs it most,” says Bruno Pelletier, spokesperson for the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

The Grand défoulement, a celebration of life

Colour, festivity, family, the 5th edition of this great solidarity movement is aimed at the entire population of Quebec. Make a gesture that will provide real comfort to people with cancer and their families and make you feel good at the same time! You can participate as a couple, a family, a group of colleagues or friends, as a school or all on your own. Each initiative makes a difference. The important thing is to take action and demonstrate our collective support to people living with cancer! Several public figures, including our spokesperson Bruno Pelletier, Bernard Fortin, José Gaudet, Lulu Hughes, Julien Lacroix and racing drivers Jean-François and Louis Philippe Dumoulin, have already shown their support by participating in our campaign. You will soon be able to view their video testimonials on our Facebook page and elsewhere.

La marche du Grand défoulement –  all across Québec!

In September and October this year, thousands of people will gather for La marche du Grand défoulement that is to be held in six regions of the province. Like the Grand défoulement campaign in general, the aim of this event is to celebrate life while raising funds. You will certainly be able to find a walk near you: Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Gatineau, Trois-Rivières, Rouyn-Noranda. Be on the lookout! Walk, donate or be a volunteer!

Because 1 out of 2 Quebecers will face cancer during their lifetime

The Foundation offers services focused on the needs and daily concerns of people affected by cancer. It is always there, at every moment of the ordeal, to listen, advise, comfort, support and provide accommodation. Every year, thousands of Quebecers turn to the Foundation to help them better cope with the disease.

Participating in the Grand défoulement is letting off steam
and doing good all at the same time!
