Montreal, June 5, 2017 - Last Saturday the event Rapides et pas dangereux was held as part of the Quebec Cancer Foundation’s Grand défoulement presented by Iristel. Well-known Quebec personalities and members of the general public gathered at the Autodrome St-Eustache to experience a very intense day! The fundraising event raised $15,840, a sum that will benefit all Quebecers affected by cancer.
Foundation spokesman Bruno Pelletier said he was delighted with the success of the event: "It was a day packed with emotion and action! Several participants shared their touching testimonies of their experiences with cancer. Everyone had a personal reason for getting involved.  We can never do enough to make sure that everyone gets all the support they need to assist them through their trial. The Quebec Cancer Foundation is there for them, to soothe their fears, listen to them, comfort them, and be a second family for them. Thanks to all those who were involved, and thanks also to Jose for devoting so much time and energy to organizing this amazing day!"
Car-lover José Gaudet organized an event that was particularly dear to his heart but whose appeal was wide enough to garner significant support for people with cancer and their loved ones: "There are so many people getting a diagnosis of cancer every day. We can’t ignore this disease; it affects everyone of all ages. To raise money, you have to be proactive, which is why I wanted to repeat the experience this year. I’m happy that several of my colleagues in the arts community and so many others have responded to the call. My sincere thanks to all of them!"
The event offered a unique opportunity for luxury car and race car enthusiasts, and thrill-seekers of every kind to sit in the passenger seat next to one of their favorite stars! Besides José Gaudet and Foundation spokesman Bruno Pelletier, the pilots in attendance were Dany "Babu" Bernier, Jeff Boudreault, Véronique Cloutier, Lise Dion, Philippe Laprise, Louis Morissette and Mario Tessier. The day’s events were enthusiastically hosted by Richard Turcotte. The day ended with a VIP three-course dinner with front-row seats for a NASCAR race.
Rapides et pas dangereux enjoyed the support of Iristel as its official presenter. Vice president, Enterprise Sales Harry Villeneuve generously contributed his time as President of Honour for a cause that has particular resonance for him: "My presence here today is directly related to my personal experience. I think we should all get involved, and give a little of ourselves so that everyone can live better with cancer. I am very proud to be involved with the Foundation."

The Quebec Cancer Foundation’s Grand Défoulement
Throughout the year, but especially in June, the Quebec Cancer Foundation encourages the entire population of Quebec to let off steam and give expression their feelings by organizing or participating in an event or by making a donation. Depending on individual tastes and interests, “letting off steam” can take the form of a bike challenge, a giant yoga session, a golf tournament, a pillow fight or the creation of a collective work of art. The organizers will support you at every step. No time? No ideas? You can make a donation or take part in an existing Grand Défoulement event: you’re sure to find one taking place in your neighbourhood! However you participate, you’ll be making a real difference in the life of someone affected by cancer. For more details, visit:
