Montreal, September 7, 2017 - At the end of a very lively summer period, the Quebec Cancer Foundation is pleased to announce that it has already raised the sum of nearly $200,000 during the 4th edition of its Grand défoulement. Related events will still be taking place across Quebec until December in support of those with cancer and their families.

With the backing of Co-operators as official presenter of the Grand défoulement for the second consecutive year, the Foundation has been able to reach thousands of Quebecers since June 1st. All these people demonstrated their compassion and generosity towards those facing the ordeal of cancer, either by organizing, participating or donating in the context of the Grand défoulement.

"It is thanks to the support of the Co-operators and the thousands of organizers, participants and donors across the province, that we have been able to raise so much. The advantage of the Grand défoulement is that it gives everyone the opportunity to play their part. Whether you live in Abitibi or Gaspésie, everyone can participate in their own way! It is a vast movement of solidarity. Together, we are making a huge difference in the daily lives of those dealing with the disease. Quebecers are people of heart, and they have proved it one more time. Thank you!” says Foundation spokesperson, Bruno Pelletier.

Mr. Patrick Décarie, Vice-President of Co-operators, adds: "You need only remember that one person in two will face cancer during their lifetime to understand the unique role played by the Quebec Cancer Foundation. The essential support that it provides every day to those in need can never be underestimated. Co-operators salutes this noble mission. Once more, we have no hesitation in putting our support behind the Grand défoulement.”

The Grand défoulement dans les écoles

The Grand défoulement will soon be making waves in schools across the province. Schools are encouraged to organize an event of their choice - whether a walk, a color race, or the creation of a mural - and to set themselves a financial goal. We then call on them to mobilize the entire student population and guide them in their fundraising activities. Stay tuned!

Because, for the person with cancer as well as those close to her, daily life is a challenge in itself, so let's mobilize! To honour or support someone affected by cancer, visit: www.granddefoulement.ca.
