Nearly $335,000 raised for the Quebec Cancer Foundation

Montreal, November 16, 2016 – This fall, the Quebec Cancer Foundation presented its Cancerto series of fundraising evenings in Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Gatineau, Quebec City and Montreal. The events attracted close to 2,000 guests, raising nearly $335,000 in support of people with cancer and their loved ones across Quebec.

This year’s edition of Cancerto featured performances by artists and celebrities including stand-up comics Stéphan Fallu and Julie Caron, the Hit The Road Coverband, the Tocadéo quartet, the Orchestre du Septième Art, vocalist Geneviève Leclerc and Olivier Thouin, Associate Concertmaster of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.

Ginette Charest, Director General of the Quebec Cancer Foundation, would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of Cancerto: donors, partners, business professionals, members of the medical community and the general public. Through their involvement, they have demonstrated their solidarity with all Quebecers who are affected by cancer each year. “I am grateful that so many people came out to help the Foundation continue its important work among people affected by cancer and their loved ones everywhere in Quebec. With their assistance, we can serve as a second family for people with cancer by giving them support, reassurance and a sympathetic ear,” Ms. Charest said.

About Cancerto

Since its launch in 2012, the Cancerto series has generated more than $2 million across Quebec. This sum has been used to provide people impacted by cancer with access to programs and services that help them better cope with the disease.  Cancerto evenings are held in Sherbrooke, Montreal, Quebec City, Gatineau and Trois-Rivières, with each unique soirée serving as a celebration of life that combines music and magic and brings people together to pay tribute to the courage of those touched by cancer.
