A blue wave of solidarity is washing over Quebec, spreading hope and warming our hearts.

The movement began last weekend in Montreal, after which it made its way to Trois-Rivières (the next morning) and then to Quebec City during the afternoon of Sunday, September 12th. This “blue wave” unfurling across the province is comprised of people of all ilk and origins, whose lives and stories, while varying greatly, are more often than not extraordinary.

They are bound by a visceral and unbreakable link: their solidarity against cancer.

Having faced the disease, they are firm in their belief that they can conquer it, together. La marche du Grand défoulement has been a staunch ally, combining festivities with a strong show of support for all of those who have or are currently fighting cancer.

From Montreal to Quebec City, by way of Trois-Rivières, the 450 walk participants gathered close to $250,000 in support of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.

And the event is far from over!

You can still register to participate or make a donation during the:
La marche in Granby, on September 25th
La marche  events in Gatineau and Abitibi-Témiscamingue, on October 2nd
La marche  de chez toi in Rimouski
La marche de chez toi in Laval

The funds raised will enable the Foundation to provide accommodations, offer telephone or other support services, make much-needed information available and accompany people dealing with the disease, regardless of age or type of cancer.

On behalf of its thousands of beneficiaries, the Quebec Cancer Foundation would like to thank its provincial presenting partner Desjardins, whose mobilization represents more than $70,000 across the province, as well as all its sponsors, volunteers, donors and loyal walkers, without whom the event could not take place.

The event will end on  October 2nd, with the walk event in Gatineau and Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

We will also be hosting a virtual recap of the festivities, featuring all of the regions involved, at 4:00 p.m. on October 23rd.
