A great premier event took place last Thursday at Montreal’s Norman Fortier Lodge.
The Foundation’s Board of Directors decided to show its gratitude to its influential donors and volunteers by bestowing them with the newly created title of Governor Member.
In an emotion-filled atmosphere, CEO Marco Décelles awarded the titles to five individuals and organizations in recognition of their invaluable contribution to the Foundation.
In the presence of some sixty business volunteers, partners, employees and beneficiaries of the Foundation, Denis Boivin, the Knights of Columbus, the J.A. DeSève Foundation, the Norman Fortier Foundation, and Bruno Pelletier were awarded the title of Governor of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
This distinction illustrates the Board of Directors' sincere acknowledgment of the exceptional contribution of those who demonstrate their long-term commitment to ensuring the well-being of Quebecers facing cancer and their loved ones.
In honour of the occasion, a work of art generously created by renowned artist Bernard Séguin Poirier was presented to the new Governors. The artist, inspired by the Foundation’s mission, drew on his talent to create a unique work for each the five honored members.
Dominique Richard, Director of Financial Development, and Michel Lesage, Chairman of the Board of Directors, also paid tribute to the five member-governors in moving speeches filled with gratitude and emotion.
The honorees were particularly touched by the title conferred on them, and with great humility, thanked the Foundation with assurances of their continued support in the years to come.
This event was also an opportunity to bring together several generations of the Foundation’s allies, testifying to the level of commitment within the organization. We particularly appreciated the presence of our young business volunteers, who are so keenly aware of the importance of our cause.
The residents who attended were also able to interact with major donors and volunteers. The evening provided everyone who came a chance to meet Bruno Pelletier, the spokesman for the Foundation, who starred in several photo ops.
The evening ended with guided tours of the Norman Fortier Hostel, led by Monique Richer, supervisor of the Montreal Lodge.
We often say that together we are stronger against cancer. This gathering of the Foundation’s extended family gave ample proof of that!
