Since its inception 3 years ago, the Programme à Félix portal at cancer15-39.com has been constantly enhanced to provide practical help to young adults affected by cancer and to their loved ones. The portal’s relevant and targeted information as well as its tools and tips focused on the reality of their situation, ensure that it is adapted to young people’s needs, which often differ from those of other age groups.
A new section entitled "Sexuality and Cancer" has just been added to the portal to provide answers to the many questions related to this topic: difficulty reaching orgasm, changes in desire, pain during sexual activity, etc.
Presented in a question-and-answer format, this new thematic section addresses aspects of sexuality that are often considered taboo. This fact makes it especially difficult for these young adults to find answers to their questions on this aspect of their lives, which have been turned upside down as the result of a cancer diagnosis.
The information provided is intended to help young people better understand the physical and psychological disruptions that can occur when cancer breaks into their sex lives.
The section also includes a large number of references to books and articles that deal with various aspects in greater depth.
The content has been developed in collaboration the Foundation’s Info-cancer team, which is made up of nurses and documentalists with special training in oncology, as well as specialists from the healthcare system.
We consult constantly with young people affected by cancer, not only to determine their special treatment needs, but also to ensure that the tone we adopt truly reflects their reality.
During the past year the portal received more than 15,000 visits, the majority of which were from people between 25 and 34 years of age.
