In 1979, outraged by the deplorable living conditions of some cancer patients located outside the major centres, five oncologists at Notre-Dame Hospital decided to tackle the problem themselves.
 
The Quebec Cancer Foundation cancer is pursuing its objective of serving new territories by now offering free transportation to patients of the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital in Laval who are lodged at its Montreal accommodation centre. This new service is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the CISSS des Laurentides and the CISSS de Laval.
