Autumn was an action-packed season for the Quebec Cancer Foundation. In Gatineau, Quebec City, Montreal, Trois-Rivières and Sherbrooke, the Cancerto series raised $350,270 while bringing hope and comfort to so many affected by cancer.

On December 5, over 200 people gathered at Hyatt Regency Montreal’s Grand Salon Opera for Cancerto, a musical evening highlighting the theme “A unique experience of emotion and celebration.” The event, which featured a cocktail reception, a silent auction, and a Christmas show starring the Foundation’s spokesperson, Bruno Pelletier, raised more than $109,500.

On Friday, November 17, Minister Jean-Yves Duclos visited the Quebec Cancer Foundation’s Quebec Regional Centre and Info-cancer Services. His visit follows the announcement of new benefits that will permit caregivers to take a leave of up to 15 weeks to care for a seriously ill adult family member.

It’s already been five years since I became a spokesperson for the Quebec Cancer Foundation. These have been three very demanding years, in which I was daily confronted with the reality that one in two Quebecers will be affected by cancer in their lifetime.
