Marcheurs sur le chemin de Compostelle

Attention, all walkers and philanthropists! The Compostelle en tandem pilgrimage of the Quebec Cancer Foundation is back with a new concept developed in partnership with tour operator Buen Camino sur les chemins de La Tienda! This year, the 200-km trek to honour the resilience and courage of the thousands of Quebecers affected by cancer annually will take place in Spain, from O Porriño to MuxÍa.

There will be two travel dates:

  • September 19 to October 4, 2017, hostel lodging and board
  • September 26 to October 11, 2017, hotel accommodation (2 stars or more)

Anne St-Hilaire, President and Founder of the Centre La Tienda, will be your Compostelle en tandem ambassador this year, bringing her experience and authenticity to the adventure. Anne knows what cancer is all about. After being told she had precancerous cells, she underwent major surgery and then decided to get herself back in shape, both mentally and physically. Passionate about the beauty of the Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle road, she had found her calling: introduce others to the path that gave her the strength to overcome a difficult time in her life.

One step at a time – in life and on the road to Compostelle

In 2014, I decided to join a group of Compostelle en tandem walkers. I was walking for my mother who had just passed away from cancer – her 3rd – and for my sister-in-law who was going through the cancer ordeal herself. The fundraising aspect of the trip meant a lot to me. I wanted to do something that would help people with cancer receive support services.” – Maurice Gohier
