Over 1,000 people from the business community have generously chosen to show their support for the 56,800 Quebecers who are affected by cancer every year by participating in the Quebec Cancer Foundation's corporate campaign. Despite the exceptional circumstances due to COVID-19, more than $850,000 has been raised across Quebec.
From September to November, the Foundation's various Regional Centres organized a series of Cancerto benefit evenings. These charity events, which were accessible only by webcast, featured Quebec artists such as the Hellbound Hepcats group in Sherbrooke, Martin Fontaine in Trois-Rivières and Gatineau, and the Orchestre du Septième Art in Quebec City.
The Cancerto series came to a close on December 8th with the Webconcert featuring Guylaine Tanguay broadcast from the Windsor in Montreal.
“We spent an evening overflowing with positive feelings at the fabulous concert given by Guylaine Tanguay. Although technology cannot not replace human warmth, it still gave us an opportunity to be “together” during this Cancerto, and help Quebecers dealing with cancer.” said Catherine Frémont, Director of Corporate Services at Canadian National (CN) and a member of the Cancerto Honorary Committee.
The benefit evening In Montreal raised $257,650 for the cause. The success of this event is due largely to the exceptional commitment of its many partners: CN, the presenter for the evening, and its collaborators: CGI, Genatec, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Vézina Assurances. Thanks also go to BMO Nesbitt Burns, Peak and Pfizer for their involvement.
“Since its inception, the Quebec Cancer Foundation has helped over half a million Quebecers. Today, thanks to your immense generosity, we can continue to improve the quality and accessibility of our services one important step further. On behalf of the Quebec Cancer Foundation and all its beneficiaries, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.” declared Marco Décelles, Director General, Quebec Cancer Foundation.
More than ever, people affected by cancer need to be accompanied by experienced oncology professionals. “We regularly receive calls from our beneficiaries, who are concerned about the sustainability of our various services (due to the pandemic) and remind us daily of the value and the contribution of Quebec Cancer Foundation. We are pleased to be able to see the positive impact of our efforts on behalf of Quebecers affected by cancer, both directly and indirectly.” says France Locas, Director of Quebec Regional Centre and Info-cancer Services.
AN EXCLUSIVE THIS YEAR!
The Foundation is proposing a 360 experience: the chance to attend every Cancerto event in the province via webcast. From December 10 to 16, you can watch any show you choose, whenever you choose, from the comfort of your own home.
Also, for the first time, the Foundation is organizing a virtual auction. Participants have until noon on December 17 to place their bids and support Quebecers with cancer.
