Today saw the launch of the 3rd edition of the Quebec Cancer Foundation's La marche du Grand défoulement across the province.
The aim of La marche du Grand défoulement is to celebrate the courage of people who are presently facing the ordeal of cancer, or have already done so. In addition to affording a precious opportunity to get together and celebrate life, the event also generates an essential source of revenue to ensure the continuity of the Foundation's services.
Health considerations permitting, thousands of walkers are expected to take part in the Foundation's six walks: in Gatineau, Granby, Montréal, Québec, Trois-Rivières and Rimouski (in partnership with the Association du cancer de l'Est du Québec), and in compliance with the measures imposed by the public health authorities.

And no matter what form La marche du Grand défoulement takes this year, the Foundation is looking forward to seeing everyone take part in a virtual festive event on October 24, 2020.
Now more than ever, people with cancer and their loved ones are relying on the Quebec Cancer Foundation and the thousands of people who support it across the province. The Ministère de la santé et des services sociaux has recognized the Quebec Cancer Foundation and designated it as an essential service. While the current crisis has seriously impacted the Foundation's revenues, cancer is as relentless, and the needs remain as enormous, as ever. This year, 55,600 Quebecers will be diagnosed with cancer.
"We all need to stay motivated, to keep up hope, and know that we are not alone, whether we are in confinement or two metres apart, let's get together for a common cause!" says Marco Décelles, Director General of the Quebec Cancer Foundation.
In 2019, more than 1,200 people walked to support the Foundation, raising an impressive $240,000.
Become a participant in La marche du Grand défoulement this year. Families, colleagues, and friends join forces to raise funds and support Quebecers affected by cancer. It's the perfect opportunity to do good for yourself and those around you!
