The 2018 edition of Cancerto marked a record year for the Quebec Cancer Foundation: over $500,000 was raised for the Foundation before an audience of over 1,600 in venues all across the province.
As in previous years, representatives of the business community in every region were in attendance at these event-filled festive evenings! Our guests were regaled with performances by Marc Hervieux, Maxime Landry, SHINE, l'Orchestre du Septième Art and others. A very impressive show of support for the well-being of Quebecers dealing with cancer.
On October 24, in the Eastern Townships, artist Maxime Landry delivered an emotion-filled performance to over 220 guests. The people of the Eastern Townships made a particular show of generosity by raising over $46,000 of behalf of the Foundation. The event enjoyed the support of two special guests: Dr. David Fortin, neurosurgeon and neuro-oncologist at CIUSSS Estrie–CHUS, and Ms. Maya Chechelnitsky, financial security advisor and mutual funds representative.
On November 2 in the Outaouais region, Cancerto was presented by Familiprix Johanne Giguère- Gatineau. The evening was truly a success and raised $75,500! Guests were treated to a series of magical moments with a dazzling performance by renowned group SHINE. At the auction, everyone got the chance to bid on a canvas by artist Jacques Desgagnés.
The event that took place in Mauricie on November 14 was co-presented by race car drivers Louis-Philippe and Jean-François Dumoulin. It featured a rhythmic performance by the group SHINE, that was preceded by a cocktail reception. 200 guests were present at the Cabaret in the Cogeco Amphitheatre, and raised $26,000 for the Foundation.
On November 16 at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec City, the Foundation sent its 650 guests on an extraordinary musical and sensorial journey: an emotion-filled concert of movie themes performed by the Orchestre du Septième Art.
This year, the honorary president was Céline Plante, a lawyer and Vice President of the law firm Joli-Coeur Lacasse, and Luc Maurice, President and founder of Le Groupe Maurice.
We're happy to announce that the event raised the impressive sum of $92,000!
Finally, on December 4, at Salon 1861 de Montreal, Cancerto broke records for donations and investments by raising $263,300 for Quebecers affected by cancer. At the event, which was proudly presented by Kevric and Le Groupe Maurice, some 380 guests were regaled with a cocktail reception, followed by an intimate concert performed by Marc Hervieux. The evening's proceedings were enjoyably enlivened by the Foundation's volunteer spokesperson, Bruno Pelletier.
In response to the huge success of the events, Director General of the Foundation, Marco Décelles, drew special attention to "the invaluable contribution of the honorary committees and partners in making these evenings such a success."
Guests from all over the province were honoured for combining fun and philanthropy while supporting the Quebec Cancer Foundation, which year after year, provides its services to the thousands of Quebecers affected by cancer.
The Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone: partners, ambassadors, volunteers and guests, who contributed to the success of these five evenings.
