Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal

Our accommodation centre in Montreal offers you pleasant and safe surroundings so that you can concentrate on getting well. Our personnel will welcome you warmly and do their best to respond to your needs and meet your expectations.

The centre is located just steps away from Notre-Dame Hospital. A shuttle service is available at no cost if your treatments are being given at the CHUM, the GLEN site, the Montreal Jewish General Hospital, the Montreal General Hospital, the Charles-Le Moyne Hospital and the CISSS de Laval.

You can reserve your place at the Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal as soon as you have the official date for your first treatment or your tests, along with the number of treatments. Moreover, it is recommended that you make it as soon as possible to ensure that you will have a spot with us.

To reserve, you need only to phone us at 514 527-2194 or toll-free at 1 877 336-4443. If possible, have in hand a pencil and some paper to take notes.
For your stay we propose that you bring along:
  • Body soap
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Paper tissues
  • Clock radio
  • Pillow (ours are slightly plasticized)
  • Liquid laundry soap (only), if you use our washer
  • Pocket change or calling card for public telephones
  • Umbrella
Several stores are located near the Lodge, such as grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants. In addition, you have easy access to several bus lines and Papineau, Sherbrooke and Berri-UQAM metro stations to facilitate your travel around the city.

An allowance for meals is included in the cost of a night’s stay for persons who have cancer and their companion. On your arrival, you will receive a meal card valid in the cafeteria of Notre Dame Hospital and the CHUM. The value of this card usually covers meal costs. However, depending on your menu choices, you may have extra charges.

Meal schedule at Notre Dame Hospital


Breakfast: from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Dinner: from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (from 1:45 p.m. service is limited to self-service items  available)
Supper: from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Weekends and holidays

Dinner: from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Supper: from 4:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Prepare your own meals

Tired of eating out? Missing badly your spaghetti sauce? Don’t worry, our common kitchen allows you to prepare your meals, just like at home. Food cupboards and refrigerators are available for you to store your food.
The receptionist will take care of your admission at the following times:


Morning: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Afternoon: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Evening: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Sundays and holidays

Evening: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The day you check out, you must leave your room by 11 a.m. after making your final payment.
The Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal offers you various activities to help you relax or spend time socializing with other residents. We propose to you, among others, our three types of complementary therapy, all offered by professionals who adapt their practice to persons with cancer.
A free shuttle service is provided for residents undergoing treatment at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), the McGill University Health Centre (GLEN), the Montreal Jewish General Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital. Service is offered from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. For transportation at the GLEN, the Montreal Jewish General Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital, the service is offered from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

The Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal offers seven parking spaces which are allocated freely to residents according to their arrival and availability. No space can be reserved.

If a parking space is allocated to you, the person at reception will give you a vignette to hang from your rear view mirror. You must leave your keys at reception whenever your vehicle is in the parking space.


The Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal has 24 rooms with double or single occupancy (according to availability).

The Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal allows you to stay near your place of treatment at a very affordable price. The rate for one night varies according to your status. 
Double occupancy. For persons being treated for cancer, whether it is in the period of investigation, treatment or during follow-up visits.
This includes a meal card for the Notre-Dame Hospital or the CHUM cafeteria.
Single occupancy. For persons being treated for cancer and holding a medical form signed by the family doctor.
This includes a meal card for the Notre-Dame Hospital or the CHUM cafeteria.
Double occupancy. For a person accompanying someone being treated for cancer.
This includes a meal card for the Notre-Dame Hospital or the CHUM cafeteria.
Double occupancy. For someone visiting a person hospitalized for a cancer. Also for persons being treated for medical issues other than cancer.
Single occupancy, according to availability. For persons being treated for cancer or for medical issues other than cancer.

Please note that the Norman Fortier Lodge in Montreal does not accept payment when covered by insurance, organizations or others. You must personally pay the cost of your stay before departure either by credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Diners Club), check or cash.
